Details

Philosophy, in its many forms, reflects the human quest for truth. How do we discover the world with an intelligent faith, finding knowledge, reality, the good, and the beautiful while avoiding counterfeits? This is what a Christian study of philosophy is all about. Students will study four major periods of philosophy (ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary) through the lenses of both Western and Eastern philosophy. For the Western tradition, the course will highlight Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, the Epicureans, Augustine, Anselm, Aquinas, Descartes, Pascal, Kant, Nietzsche, and Lewis; and in the Eastern tradition, Confucius, Sun-Tzu, Lauzi, the Upanishads, the Buddha, Nagarjuna, Bodhidharma, Miyamoto Musashi, D.T Suzuki, and Mao Zedong. Homework will average approximately 3-5 hours per week.

Philosophy is taught by an expert instructor in the Veritas Virtual Classroom and is limited to only 20 students per course.
