Veritas Press Self-Paced Omnibus

Think Biblically through the Great Books

Self-paced Omnibus courses are geared for 7th – 12th graders. Omnibus is a Latin term meaning “all encompassing.” Combining history, theology and literature, these courses help students grow in their appreciation of the unity of all knowledge. Each year offers two courses; the primary books course and the secondary books course. They can be taken separately, but taken together, students earn three credits—history, theology and literature.

  • Learn from experts in each subject area
  • Tour the locations where history occurred
  • Be challenged by interactive exercises that require thinking, not just learning facts
  • Interact with the Great Books, all from a Christian worldview

Students will hear what the world thinks through street interviews, then be drawn back to Scripture and what God says.

Not only will students be prepared to address the challenges of an unbelieving world in college and beyond, they will be prepared to engage it winsomely and convincingly. I have to admit that I was really fascinated by many of the video presentations, especially those with ‘experts’ in the field. I learned a TON in one of the early segments where an expert walks you through the Sistine Chapel and many of the paintings found on the ceiling. Plus, I really appreciated hearing from three different individuals their reasoning for why they believe what they believe when it comes to reading the Bible literally or not. There is even a walk through a recreated tabernacle as laid out in detail in the Book of Exodus. Laura O., Day By Day in Our World
Within minutes of beginning this curriculum, I felt as if I was in a first year seminary class. I was so impressed with things my son (and I) were learning. My husband (a seminary graduate) had the same response….It was all explained in such a way that my son was able to keep up and understand the concepts. The course work is not too overwhelming, but the concepts are much "deeper" than I had expected. Letha P., justpitchingmytent
