Henty`s stories revolve around a fictional boy living thorugh different periods of history. This particular one is a tale of Ancient Egypt concerning a young prince of the Rebu people who is taken captive in war with Egypt. It provides great insight into ancient Egyptian life. Independent reading level is 4th grade or above, but a wonderful read aloud. Soft 320p

'' This was the first GA Henty book I had my oldest read. I started him on it in fourth grade and he really struggled. We put it away until fifth grade and took turns reading it to each other in bite size chunks. I explained things as we went along and eventually turned him loose to read it on his own. He went from insisting he didn't understand a thing to enjoying the book. He and I have now read multiple GA Henty books and have plans to read several more. Perhaps if I had started reading them aloud at a younger age they wouldn't have been such a challenge to read on his own. Excellent book with a good plot that brings to life the world of the ancient Egyptians. I highly recommend it and strongly encourage you to not give up if your child finds it a challenge. It is a challenge that will improve them for sure. Excellent vocabulary builder on top of the historical content. Well worth it and simply a good read. ''
