Since 1998, Veritas has been creating and providing the finest curricular materials for a K - 12 classical education from a Christian worldview. With a keen sense of applying time-proven methods and using developing technologies, Veritas has been established as a leader in curriculum design and effectiveness.
In 2007 Veritas began offering online classes through Veritas Scholars Academy. Now, more than 10,000 students from over 50 countries take Veritas classes every year.
What you need has changed and Veritas has changed with your needs. In 1998, a website and internet commerce were just getting started. Curriculum was found entirely in books, CDs and some DVDs. Today Veritas offers three ways to learn to fit your family’s needs and lifestyle.
With all the new developments within Veritas some things remain constant. When we first discovered classical education we said, “That’s what we want for our kids!” It has proven to be one of the best decisions we’ve made.
Classical education takes a three-fold approach. This trivium, which it is frequently called, is Latin for “where three roads meet” and lays out three stages of learning: grammar, dialectic (or logic), and rhetoric. The genius of classical education—why it works so well—is because it teaches “with the grain” of how children develop. When they’re young, they enjoy memorizing and learning lots of things. The junior high years find them interested in challenging, arguing, and wanting to understand how things might relate to each other. During the senior high years, they become more concerned with how they are perceived, wanting to be articulate and persuasive in winsome ways. Teaching according to their God-given tendencies proves to be remarkably effective, not to mention that it trains children to learn for themselves—as lifelong learners.
